The Cleveland Clinic EMS Education web site provides a single resource for education and support to area Fire/EMS departments with information on all aspects of EMS pre-hospital care. Whether improving your skills or looking for specific EMS education topics for re-certification, the Cleveland Clinic EMS Education web site is a "one-stop shop" for educational needs and event information. We are dedicated to providing our medical control EMS providers with quality Continuing Education in a variety of clinical settings as well as online educational opportunities. There are several options for the EMS provider to choose from.

Online courses are open to Cleveland Clinic Medical Command Fire Department Personnel ONLY and are COMPLIMENTARY (FREE)

Communication is a vital part of any EMS Medical Direction System. Knowing whom to contact when you need medical direction/issues is vitally important and can be aggravating at times.Listed below are the various Medical Direction facilities as well as the Medical Directors and EMS Coordinators responsible for medical direction.

Please feel free to contact the appropriate EMS Coordinators if you have questions related to your scope or practice, protocols or any other operational issues.

  EMS Continuing Education classes are scheduled and conducted at the respective Fire Departments listed under our Medical Direction.

Christopher Myers, DO, is the EMS Medical Director for Medina Hospital. In this position, Dr. Myers will work with area fire departments and EMS providers in the cities and townships under Medina Hospital’s medical control. Dr. Myers is an Emergency Medicine Specialist and graduated with honors from Ohio University of Osteo Medicine in 2011. Having more than 6 years of diverse experience, Dr. Myers affiliates with Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital as well as Marymount Hospital.

Rick has served as Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital’s EMS Coordinator since 2012, and expanded his coordinator duties to include Cleveland Clinic Brunswick FSED upon its opening in July of 2015. Rick has been a State certified EMS Instructor since 2004. Rick also currently functions as a paramedic on the Medina Life Support Team, a firefighter with Hinckley Township FD, and a tactical paramedic with the Medina County SWAT Team. Prior to his current role with the ESI, Rick worked as a paramedic with the Cleveland Clinic Critical Care Transport Team from its inception in 2004 to 2015. Rick graduated from the Parma Community General Hospital Paramedic program in 1999.

NEW 2019 NEO Regional Protocol Available

The NEW NEO Regional Protocol is available on the CECOMS website.
This protocol is a collaboration between Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Metro Health and Southwest General. The official start date for implementation and update of the current Protocol App is scheduled for April 1,2019. Hard copies of the protocol will be issued to each department during the rollouts.
